Local Beaches

Our nearest sandy beach is close by in Coverack – just over a mile along a footpath or by road.  Coverack has a picturesque harbour, a good pub, fish and chip shop, and cafes.  Kayaks, paddle boards and windsurfing are available for hire here.  Other beaches on the peninsula are a very secluded Godrevey Cove along with more well known beaches such as Kynance Cove, Poldhu, Kennack Sands and Gunwalloe  -  all easily accessible and attractive whether in warm sunny weather or when sea is wild and stormy.  Bird life can be unique here – look out for the Cornish chough!

The Lizard

There are also wonderful wooded estuaries and river valleys to explore such as the Helford river with its bluebell woods, old cottages and little rocky beaches.  The Loe Pool between Helston and Porthleven is a National Trust wildlife haven – a lake cut off from the sea by a sand bar and with a marvellous walk all the way around it.  Lizard Point itself (the most southerly point in England) is both very beautiful and very wild with seals often seen , a unique vegetation and geology, and a fascinating lifeboat history of rescues around the famous ‘Manacles’ rocks.

We are situated only 3 or 4 minutes walk from ‘Roskilly’s’ where you can take a peek at a real, working, organic Cornish dairy farm...

Visit the farm for FREE and meet the animals, stroll around the meadows, enjoy the tranquility by the ponds and of course, sample Roskilly's award winning ice cream in the Croust house restaurant! for more information click here

St Keverne Square

St Keverne

We are located half a mile from the village of St Keverne by road & only 600 metres by footpaths. St Keverne is the largest village in the Helford area and somewhat unusual (for Cornwall) in that it is clustered around a central square. This attractive square contains a village stores, newsagents, butcher/deli & two thriving pubs (the White Hart and The Three Tuns), a handful of cottages and is overlooked by the church of St Akeveranus. South West Coast Path

The Cedarwood site lies 50 meters from a public footpath that joins directly with the South West Coastal Path where you can walk all around the the Lizard peninsula, passing the most southerly point on the UK mainland, following undulating high cliffs with outstanding views along the Cornish coastline. This is a good walk at any time of year with migrating birds passing through in spring and autumn, wildflowers in spring and summer and potentially dramatic seas during the winter.
